Describe Coronavirus pandemic cue card/ speak about covid-19
Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. According to WHO, the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and a dry cough. It takes 5-6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however, it can take up 14 days. This virus is primarily spread between people during close contact often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking.
The outbreak was identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019, but it is recognized as a pandemic by the world health organization on March 11, 2010. It is a contagious disease that has been spread globally due to overseas traveling. Millions of people are suffering from this pandemic all over the world and the death rate has been rising also.
There is no known vaccine or specific antiviral treatment, but by taking preventative measures it can be cured like covering one’s mouth while coughing, maintaining distance from other people, self- isolation, wearing surgical masks in public, proper hand washes and use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
The pandemic has caused the largest global recession in history due to global lockdown. More than 200 countries are suffering from this pandemic, it has become a global issue. Governments are also enacting strict rules to overcome this problem like schools, universities, and colleges have closed, travel restrictions, quarantine, curfews, stay-at-home orders, and workplace hazard controls.
However, due to reduced traveling and closures of heavy industry, air pollution has been decreasing and the ozone layer is healing which is good for the environment.
Researchers are also looking for new vaccines, but still, they do not find the vaccine of coronavirus.
